Day one of our journey towards the sun. We left Mount Vernon in a rainstorm and headed south on I5. Didn’t find sunshine until about Eugene, Oregon. Erik wasn’t big on stopping. His idea was that we get as far as we could in one day. Anything worth seeing we could easily go back to he said… Our goal was to get at least as far as Redding, California. Erik did stop for me to take photos of Mount Shasta, but I chose this driving shot, because I thought that it spoke to the day of non-stop driving better. We made it to Redding. Ate at a funky little steakhouse called Jacks, frequented by bikers and then headed on down to Sacramento for the night. 815 miles in all.
The Travels of Erik and Martha
This blog was started 3 years ago to share my adventures with my students. Always the teacher, even when I am on summer vacation. We had a class cow mascot that traveled with me. What grew out of a class project, has turned into a family travel log. Shania, usually doesn't come along any more, but the name remains. In 2009, I started a new challenge. I am now posting a photo a day on my 365 Challenge page. When we travel, I will double post both here and on my 365 Challenge blog. I love to travel. Erik is a great companion on the road. We have great adventures and it is fun to share those adventures with others.
