We left the amazing Banff landscape and headed to the urban landscape of Calgary for the day. We chose to explore Calgary today because it was supposed to rain in the mountains today. We drove from the mountains to the prairie to the surprisingly big city of Calgary. We stopped at the Canadian Olympic Center. This was the home of the 1988 Calgary Winter Olympics. Lots of daredevil things to do there like roll down the hill in a giant hamster ball or take a Ski lift up to the top of the mountain and ride your bike down. We decided to stop on the West side and took the C-Train into town so that we could explore the city. This urban landscape doesn’t hold a candle to the amazing beauty we have seen the past few days in the Canadian Rockies, but we enjoyed a nice day of exploring a new city.
The Travels of Erik and Martha
This blog was started 3 years ago to share my adventures with my students. Always the teacher, even when I am on summer vacation. We had a class cow mascot that traveled with me. What grew out of a class project, has turned into a family travel log. Shania, usually doesn't come along any more, but the name remains. In 2009, I started a new challenge. I am now posting a photo a day on my 365 Challenge page. When we travel, I will double post both here and on my 365 Challenge blog. I love to travel. Erik is a great companion on the road. We have great adventures and it is fun to share those adventures with others.
