Beautiful day in Banff today. We started off by taking the Minnewanka Loop. The lakes were beautiful this morning with the reflection of the mountains in the water. We saw big horn sheep and mountain goats along the way. We then explored the beautiful, yet crowded and touristy town of Banff. Although I have seen photos of the Banff Springs Hotel many times. I still gasped at my first glance of this massive inn. We took a walk in the evening up to a lookout to take photos of the Inn. It was impossible to take it in up close. With rain threatening we ended our day with a drive around Vermillion Lakes. There was a mixture of blue sky and puffy clouds and looming gray clouds. The late afternoon light illuminated the mountains in the distance. Great day. We are so thankful to get to spend time in this very beautiful part of the world.
The Travels of Erik and Martha
This blog was started 3 years ago to share my adventures with my students. Always the teacher, even when I am on summer vacation. We had a class cow mascot that traveled with me. What grew out of a class project, has turned into a family travel log. Shania, usually doesn't come along any more, but the name remains. In 2009, I started a new challenge. I am now posting a photo a day on my 365 Challenge page. When we travel, I will double post both here and on my 365 Challenge blog. I love to travel. Erik is a great companion on the road. We have great adventures and it is fun to share those adventures with others.
